Challenging the inaction of the respondents in failing to consider the petitioner’s electoral registration in pursuance of application in Form-8 submitted in September 2026, whereby his name was transposed to 118 – Nellore Rural Assembly Constituency, Sl.No.762, of Part No. 215, the instant writ petition is filed.
3. It is contended that the petitioner is a permanent resident of Nellore, and is proposing to contest in the forthcoming elections to the office of Mayor of Nellore Municipal Corporation. His name was initially enrolled in the electoral roll of 116-Kovur Assembly Constituency at Gandavaram Village. He filed an application in Form-8 in the month of September 2026, for transposing of his electoral particulars and sought shifting of his electoral registration from Gandavaram Village to 118-Nellore Rural Assembly Constituency. Accordingly the said application of the petitioner was accepted and processed. Accordingly his name has also been enrolled in the electoral roll of 118- Nellore Rural Assembly Constituency and the same has been updated in the corresponding electoral record. In the said regard, the petitioner had made a representation dated 06.10.2026 to the 1st respondent to include his name in the final electoral roll that would be published by the 1st respondent. As the said representation has not yet been taken up for consideration, apprehending that the electoral roll would be published without considering the petitioner’s application any time soon, the instant Writ Petition is filed seeking urgent orders in the said regard.
4. Considered the submissions.
5. A screenshot of the status of the application filed by the petitioner in Form-8 has been placed before the Court. A perusal of the same reflects that the application filed by the petitioner was approved on 09.09.2026, and the records have been successfully updated in electoral roll.
6. In view of the same, in the light of the Notification of the 1st respondent dated 15.09.2026, the 1st respondent is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 06.10.2026 and pass appropriate orders forthwith for inclusion of the petitioner’s name in the photo electoral rolls that would be prepared and published for the ensuing Elections of the Urban Local Bodies.
7. With the above directions, the Writ Petition is disposed. There shall be no order as to costs.
As a sequel, miscellaneous applications pending, if any, shall also stand closed.
