Bomb threat to Delhi HC: courtrooms, judges chambers screened

12:04 PM, Friday,12 September 2025

Multiple benches in Delhi High Court rise abruptly due to bomb threat

Unusual scenes were witnessed at the Delhi High Court on Friday (September 12, 2025) as multiple benches abruptly rose after an alleged bomb threat.

Several judges adjourned their proceedings, without giving reason and courtrooms were vacated.

The official email id of the Delhi High Court received a mail around 8.38 am claiming a blast will take place at the court premises, sources told The Hindu.

Two fire brigade vehicles, two ambulances, and a bomb disposal squad vehicle have been stationed inside the court premises as a precautionary measure.

Security personnel are maintaining heightened vigil while judges chambers and courtrooms are being screened.

Lawyers, litigants and court staff, who were vacated from the court building, were seen occupying the lawns at the premises, with many even taking the opportunity to have their lunch while waiting outside.

Police said a PCR call was received in the morning regarding an e-mail claiming the presence of a bomb in the court premises.

“We are carrying out search operations. Fire officials along with the bomb disposal squad and dog squad are present at the spot,” a senior police official said.
