THE INDIAN COINAGE (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1985

An Act further to amend the Indian Coinage Act, 1906.
Be it enacted by Parliament in the Thirty-sixth Year of the Republic of India as follows:-
1. This Act may be called the Indian Coinage Act (Amendment) Act, 1985.
2. Section 6 of the Coinage Act, 1906 shall be re-numbered as sub-section (1) of that section and after sub-section (1) as so renumbered, the following sub-section shall be inserted, namely:-
“(2) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-section (1), if the Central Government is of opinion that it is necessary or expedient in the public interest so to do, it may authorize the coining, in son (including the Government of any foreign country), beyond the limits and import such coins for issue under its authority under that sub-section.” |
