An Act to amend the Special Marriage Act, 1954, in its application to West Bengal.
Whereas it is expedient to amend the Special Marriage Act, 1954, in its application to West Bengal, for the purpose and in the manner hereinafter appearing:
It is hereby enacted as follows:-
1. Short title and commencement. - (1) This Act may be called the Special Marriage (West Bengal Amendment) Act, 1999.
(2) It shall come into force at once.
2. Application of the Act. - The Special Marriage Act, 1954 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act) shall, in its application to West Bengal, be amended for the purpose and in the manner hereinafter provided.
3. Amendment of section 48 of Act 43 of 1954. - In section 48 of the principal Act, for the words "Registrar-General of Births, Deaths and Marriages", the words "Registrar General of Marriages" shall be substituted. |
