THE REGISTRATION (WEST BENGAL AMENDMENT) ACT, 1986

West Bengal Act 26 of 1986

[15th January, 1987]

An Act to amend the Registration Act, 1908, in its application to West Bengal.

Whereas it is expedient to amend the Registration Act, 1908, in its application to West Bengal, for the purpose and in the manner hereinafter appearing;

It is hereby enacted as follows :-

1. Short title and extent. - (1) This Act may be called the Registration (West Bengal Amendment) Act, 1986.

(2) It extends to the whole of West Bengal.

2. Application of the Act. - The Registration Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act) shall, in its application to West Bengal, be amended for the purpose and in the manner hereinafter provided.

3. Insertion of new Part XIIIBB in Act 16 of 1908. - In the principal Act, after Part XIIIB, the following Part shall be inserted :-

"Part XIIIBB

Of Copy-Writers

80GG. Power to Inspector-General to make rules relating to copy-writers. - (1) The Inspector-General shall have power from time to time to make rules consistent with this Act, with prospective or retrospective effect, providing for the grant of licences to copy-writers, the revocation of such licences, the terms and conditions subject to which and the authority by which such licences shall be granted, and generally for all purposes connected with the copying of documents for registration.

(2) The rules so made shall be submitted to the State Government for approval, and, after they have been approved, they shall be published in the Official Gazette, and on publication shall have effect as if enacted in this Act.".
