An Act to amend the Provincial Small Cause Courts Act, 1887, in its application to West Bengal.
Whereas it is expedient to amend the Provincial Small Cause Courts Act, 1887, in its application to West Bengal, for the purposes and in the manner hereinafter appearing;
It is hereby enacted as follows :-
1. Short title and commencement. - (1) This Act may be called the Provincial Small Cause Courts (West Bengal Amendment) Act, 1978.
(2) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
2. Application of the Act. - The Provincial Small Cause Courts Act, 1887 (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), shall, in its application to West Bengal, be amended in the manner hereinafter provided.
3. Amendment, of section 15 of Act 9 of 1887. - In section 15 of the said Act, -
(1) in sub-section (2), for the words "two thousand and five hundred rupees", the words "five thousand rupees" shall be substituted;
(2) in sub-section (3), for the words "five thousand rupees", the words "seven thousand and five hundred rupees" shall be substituted.
4. Savings. - Nothing in this Act shall apply to or affect any appeal from any decree or order passed before the commencement of this Act. |
