BOMBAY REGISTRATION OF MARRIAGES (GUJARAT EXTENSION AND AMENDMENT) ACT, 1963

An Act to extend the Bombay Registration of Marriages Act, 1953, to the rest of the State of Gujarat.
It is hereby enacted in the Fourteenth Year of the Republic of India as follows : —
Short title and commencement.
1. (1) This Act may be called the Bombay Registration of Marriages (Gujarat Extension and Amendment) Act, 1963.
(2) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
Amendment of section 1 of Bom. V of 1954.
2. In section 1 of the Bombay Registration of Marriages Act, 1953 (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Act”),—
(i) for sub-section (2), the following shall be substituted, namely :—
“(2) It extends to the whole of the State of Gujarat”.
(ii) to sub-section (3), the following proviso shall be inserted, namely : —
Guj XXVIII 1963.
"Provided that in that part of the State to which this Act is extended by the Bombay Registration of Marriages (Gujarat Extension and Amendment) Act, 1963, this section shall come into force at once and the remaining provisions of this Act shall come into force, in such areas and on such date as the State Government may, by like notification, appoint.”.
Amendment of section 7 of Bom V of 1954.
3. In section 7 of the principal Act, for the words '‘the Bombay area of the State of Gujarat”, the words “this State” shall be substituted. |
