THE MADRAS HIGH COURT (JURISDICTIONAL LIMITS) EXTENSION ACT, 1985

An Act to provide for the extension of the ordinary original civil jurisdiction of the Madras High Court to certain areas.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Tamil Nadu in the Thirty-sixth Year to the Republic of India as follows:-
Short title and saving
(1) This Act may be called the Madras High Court (Jurisdictional Limits) Extension Act, 1985.
(2) Nothing in this Act shall affected any suit or other legal proceeding pending in any court at the date of the commencement of this Act.
Extension of ordinary original civil jurisdiction of Madras High Court
Notwithstanding anything contained in the Madras High Court (Jurisdictional Limits) Act, 1927 (Tamil Nadu Act IV of 1927) or any other law for the time being in force, the ordinary original civil jurisdiction of the High Court of judicature at Madras shall also extend to the areas comprised in the revenue villages specified the Schedule.
