These words were substituted for the word “Madras” by the Tamil Nadu Adaptation of Laws Order, 1969, as amended by the Tamil Nadu Adaptation of Laws (Second Amendment) Order, 1969, which came into force on the14th January 1969. [THE MADRAS CITY POLICE (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1907]

(Received the assent of the Governor on the 2nd May 1907, and that of the Governor-General on the 20th May 1907)

An Act to provide for the control by the Inspector-General of Police of The Administration of the Madras City Police.

Preamble:-

WHEREAS it is expedient to place the Commissioner of Police, Madras, under the control and direction of the Inspector-General; It is hereby enacted as follows:-

Short Title and commencement:-

1. The Act may be called the Madras City Police (Amendment) Act, 1907, and it shall come into force on such date this Act came into force on the1st September 1907, see Fort St. George Gazette, 1907, Part I, page 856. as The words “Provincial Government” were substituted for the words “Governor in Council” by the Adaptation Order of 1937 and the word “State” was substituted for “Provincial” by the Adaptation Order of 1950.
