THE SEVVALPATTI IMPARTIBLE ESTATE ACT, 1930

Act No. IX of 1930

(Received the assent of the Governor on the 23rd April 1930, and that of the Governor-General on the 1st June 1930; the assent of the Governor-General was first published in the Fort St. George Gazette of the 24th June 1930)


An Act to declare the Sevvalpatti Estate to be an Impartible Estate within the meaning of the (These words were substituted for the word "Madras" by the Tamil Nadu Adaptation of Laws Order, 1969, as amended by the Tamil Nadu Adaptation of Laws (Second Amendment) Order, 1969, which came into force on the 14th January 1969) [Tamil Nadu] Impartible Estates Act, (The expression "II of" was omitted by section 3 of and the Second Schedule to, the Tamil Nadu Repealing and Amending Act, 1951 (Tamil Nadu Act XIV of 1951) [ ] 1904.

Preamble.

Whereas it is expedient to declare that the Sevvalpatti Estate is an impartible estate and that its proprietor cannot exercise unrestricted powers of alienation in respect thereof;

And whereas the previous sanction of the Governor-General has been obtained to the passing of this Act ; It is hereby enacted as follows:—

1. Short title.

This Act may be called the Sevvalpatti Impartible Estate Act, 1930.

2. The Sevvalpatti Estate to be impartible within the meaning of the [Tamil Nadu] Impartible Estates Act, 1904.

Notwithstanding any decision of court, rule of or enactment to the contrary, the Sevvalpatti Estate in the Ramnad and Tinnevelly districts meaning of the is hereby declared to be an impartible estate within the meaning of the (These words were substituted for the word "Madras" by the Tamil Nadu Adaptation of Laws Order, 1969, as amended by the Tamil Nadu Adaptation of Laws (Second Amendment) Order, 1969, which came into force on the 14th January 1969) [Tamil Nadu] Impartible Estates Act, (The expression "II of" was omitted by section 3 of and the Second Schedule to, the Tamil Nadu Repealing and Amending Act, 1951 (Tamil Nadu Act XIV of 1951) [ ] 1904 and shall in the hands of the present owner as well as his heirs and successors, be subject to the provisions of that Act.

3. Savings.

This Act shall not affect any alienation made or debt incurred before the coming into force of this Act.
