An Act further to amend the Payment of Salaries and Allowances Act, 1951.
Preamble.— WHEREAS it is expedient further to amend the Payment of Salaries and Allowances Act, 1951 for the purposes hereinafter appearing;
BE it enacted in the Fortieth Year of the Republic of India as follows: —
1. Short title and commencement.— (1) The Act may be called the Payment of Salaries and Allowances (Amendment) Act, 1989.
(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1 st day of August, 1989.
2 . Amendment of section 8. — In section 8 of the Payment of Salaries and Allowances Act 1951, (Act XIV of 1951) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act) —
(i) in clause (aa) of the sub-section (1), for the words “ two hundred and fifty rupees”, the words “four hundred rupees” shall be substituted;
(ii) in sub-section (3), the words “of two hundred and fifty rupees” shall be omitted.
3.. Amendment of section 8A. — In sub-section (5) of section 8A of the principal Act, for the words “ two hundred rupees”, the words “five hundred rupees” shall be substituted.
4. Amendment of section 9 A. — In section 9A of the principal Act, —
(i) in sub-section (1) for the words “ten thousand rupees” the words “fifteen thousand rupees “ shall be substituted.
(ii) in sub-section (2), for the words “his or her spouse by first class“ the words “his or her spouse and one companion by any class“ shall be
substituted.
5. Amendment of the Schedule . — In the Schedule to the principal Act, —
(1) in paragraph 1,
(i) in sub-clause (b) of clause (1) for the words “fifty rupees” the words “seventy five rupees” shall be substituted.
(ii) in sub-clause (b) of clause (2) for the words “eighty rupees”, the words “one hundred rupees” shall be substituted.
(2) in paragraph III,
(i) in clause (1), for the words “fifty rupees”, the words “seventy-five rupees” shall be substituted;
(ii) in clause (2), for the words “eighty rupees”, the words “one hundred rupees” shall be substituted.
