THE PAYMENT OF SALARIES AND ALLOWANCES (AMENDMENT)
ACT, 1999
An Act further to amend the Payment of Salaries and Allowances Act , 1951.
Preamble . — WHEREAS, it is expedient further to amend the Payment of Salaries and Allowances Act, 1951 for the purposes hereinafter appearing; —
BE it enacted in the Fiftieth Year of the Republic of India as follows: —
1 . Short title and commencement. — (1) This Act may be called the Payment of Salaries and Allowances (Amendment) Act, 1999.
(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st day of July, 1999.
2 . Amendment of section 6. — In the Payment of Salaries and Allowances Act, 1951 (XIV of 1951) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act.), in section 6, in sub-section (2) for the words "a consolidated sum of eight hundred and fifty rupees" the words " a sum of one thousand eight hundred and fifty rupees" shall be substituted.
3. Amendment of section 8 . — In section 8 of the principal Act, in sub-section (1), —
(i) in clause (aa) for the words " a consolidated sum of rupees one thousand and five hundred " the words "a constituency allowance of rupees two thousand and five hundred" shall be substituted;
(ii) in the proviso to clause (b), for the words "three thousand rupees "the words "four thousand and five hundred rupees" shall be substituted.
4. Amendment of section 8A . — In section 8A of the principal Act, in sub-section (5) for the words" two thousand rupees" the words "three thousand rupees" shall be substituted.
5 .Amendment of the Schedule.- In the Schedule to the principal Act,
(1) in paragraph I, —
(a) in item (1), —
(i) in sub-item (a) for the words " rupees three" the words "rupees four" shall be substituted;
(ii) in sub-item (b) for the words "one hundred rupees" the words "three hundred rupees" shall be substituted;
(b) in item (2), —
(i) for sub-item (a) the following sub-item, shall be substituted namely: —
"(a) for journey by road irrespective of the distance travelled at the rate of rupees four per kilometer";
(ii) in sub-item (b) for the words ":one hundred and fifty rupees the words "three hundred rupees" shall be substituted.
(2) in paragraph III, —
(a) in item (1) for the words "seventy-five rupees" the words "two hundred rupees" shall be substituted;
(b) in item (2) for the words "one hundred rupees" the words "two hundred rupees" shall be substituted.
