ACT 2 OF 1960

THE PAYMENT OF SALARIES AND ALLOWANCES (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1960 [1]

     An Act further to amend the Payment of Salaries and Allowan­ ces Act, 1951.

           Preamble. — whereas it is expedient further to amend the Payment of Salaries and Allowances Act, 1951, for the pur­poses hereinafter appearing;

            be it enacted in the Eleventh Year of the Republic of India as follows: —

       1. Short title and commencement. — (1) This Act may be called the Payment of Salaries and Allowances (Amendment.) Act, I960.

           (2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 22nd day of February, 1960.

       2. Amendment of section 3 . —In section 3 of the Payment of Salaries and Allowances Act, 1951, hereinafter referred to as the principal Act, for the words "five hundred rupees" in both places where they occur, the words "eight hundred rupees" shall be substituted.

       3. Amendment of section 4 .-- In section 4 of the principal Act, —

         (i) in sub-section (1), for the words “five hundred rupees ''in both places where they occur, the words “eight hundred rupees '' shall be substituted;

         (ii) in sub-section (2), for the words “two hundred and fifty rupees ''in both places where they occur, the words “four hundred rupees'' shall be substituted.

      4. Amendment of section 8. —In section 8 of the principal Act, in clause (a) of sub-section (1), for the words "one hundred and fifty rupees" the words "two hundred rupees " shall be substituted.

      5. Amendment of the Schedule. —In the Schedule to the principal Act,—

          (i) under the heading “I Minister and Speaker '',in sub-clause ( c) of clause (1) ,for the words “twelve naye paise per mile ” shall be substituted ;

          (ii) under the heading “III .Members of the Legislative Assembly” —

                •  for the words “two annas per mile ”occurring against the entry “For journeys by rail”,the words”twelve naye paise per mile “shall be substituted;

               •  for the words “Eight annas per mile ” occurring against the entry “For journeys by road “,the words “Fifty naye paise per mile “ shall be substituted.
