THE JAMMU AND KASHMIR BOARD OF PROFESSIONAL ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2007

PREAMBLE
An Act to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance I Examinations Act, 2002.
Be it enacted by the Jammu and Kashmir State Legislature in the Fifty-eighth Year of the Republic of India as follows;-
Section 1 - Short title and commencement
(1) This Act may be called the Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (Amendment) Act, 2007.
(2) It shall come into force from the date of its publication in the Government Gazette.
Section 2 - Amendment of section 4, Act XXV of 2002
In section 4 of the Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations Act, 2002 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act),
(i) for sub-section (1), the following sub-section shall be substituted:-
(1) The Chairman shall be a whole time paid officer of the Board and shall be appointed by the Governor on the recommendations of the Screening Committee consisting of the Vice Chancellors of Kashmir and Jammu Universities to be headed by the Chief Secretary to Government;
(ii) in sub-section (2) for clause (b), the following clause shall be substituted, namely: -
(b) an academician or educationist of high repute having served for not less than 25 years or a person who holds or has held the post of a Secretary to the Government or its equivalent..
Section 3 - Amendment of section 11, Act XXV of 2002
In section 11 of the principal Act, in sub-section (2), for the words State Services, the words State Services or an academician from any University or Institute not below the rank of Reader shall be substituted.
Section 4 - Amendment of section 12, Act XXV of 2002
In section 12 of the principal Act, in sub-section (1), for clause (a), the following clause shall be substituted, namely:-
(a) be a whole time officer of the Board and shall be appointed by the Government from amongst the officers not below the rank of Principal of a Degree College or an academician from any University or Institute not below the rank of Associate Professor or Assistant Professor or Reader with at least 15 years experience in teaching and conduct of examinations. |
