PREAMBLE
An Act to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1997.
Be it enacted by the Jammu and Kashmir State Legislature in the Fifty-fifth Year of the Republic of India as follows :-
Section 1 - Short title and commencement
(1) This Act may be called the Jammu and Kashmir Arbitration and Conciliation (Amendment) Act, 2004.
(2) It shall come into force from the date of its publication in the Government Gazette.
Section 2 - Substitution of section 21, Act XXXV of 1997
Section 21 of the Jammu and Kashmir Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1997 shall be substituted by the following, namely :-
"21. Commencement of arbitral proceedings.-Unless otherwise agreed by the parties, the arbitral proceedings in respect of a particular dispute commence on the date on which a request for that dispute to be referred to arbitration is received by the respondent." |
