Act Description : THE REGISTRATION (KARNATAKA AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE, 2001
Act Details :-


(Promulgated by the Governor of Karnataka in the fifty second year of the Republic of India and published in the Karnataka Gazette Extraordinary on the third day of October, 2001)

An Ordinance further to amend the Registration Act, 1908 in its application to the State of Karnataka.

Whereas the Karnataka Legislative Council is not in session and the Governor of Karnataka is satisfied that circumstances exist which render it necessary for her to take immediate action further to amend the Registration Act, 1908 (Central Act XVI of 1908) in its application to the State of Karnataka for the purposes hereinafter appearing;

And whereas the previous instructions of the President have been obtained in pursuance of the proviso to clause (1) of Article 213 of the Constitution of India;

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred on her by clause (1) of Article 213 of the Constitution of India, the Governor of Karnataka is pleased to promulgate the following Ordinance, namely:-

1. Short title and commencement.

(1) This Ordinance may be called the Registration (Karnataka Amendment) Ordinance, 2001.

(2) It shall come into force at once.

2. Amendment of section 70C.

In sub-section (2) of section 70C of the Registration Act, 1908 (Central Act XVI of 1908) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), for the word "officers" the word "office" shall be substituted.


In section 70D of the principal Act,-

(a) in clause (a), for the word "media" the word "device" shall be substituted.

(b) in clause (c), for the words "books and the information" the words "books or the information" shall be substituted.

(c) in clause (g), in sub-clause (ii), after the words "the following " the word "provisos" shall be inserted.

(d) in clause (h), for the brackets, letter and words "(I) regulating the process" the brackets, letter and words "(L) regulating the process" shall be substituted.
