THE PRISONERS (MADRAS AMENDMENT) ACT, 1949

PREAMBLE
An Act to amend [Substituted by Act 14/1951] [the Prisoners Act, 1900]
In its application to the Province of Madras.
WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the prisoners Act 1900, in its application to the province of Madras, for the Act purposes hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted as follows:-
Section 1 - Short title and extent
(1) This act may be called the Prisoners (Madras Amendment) Act, 1949.
(2) It extends to the whole of the [Substituted by Act 14/1951] [State] of Madras
Section 2 - Amendment of sections 35 and 37 Central Act in of 1900
In sections 35 and 37 of the Prisoners Act, 1900 (herein after referred to as the said Act), the words and figures "subject to the provisions of section 39," shall be omitted.
Section 3 - Repeal of sections 38 and 39 Central Act III of 1900
Sections 38 and 39 of the said Act shall be omitted.
Section 4 - Amendment of section 43, Central Act m of 1900
In section 43, clause (a), of the said Act, for the words and figures "Section 35, section 37 or section 39" the words and figures "section 35 or section 37" shall be substituted. |
