An Act further to amend the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994.

Be it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Tamil Nadu in the Sixty-third Year of the Republic of India as follows:—

1. Short title and commencement.—

(1) This Act may be called the Tamil Nadu Panchayats (Second Amendment) Act, 2012.

(2) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification, appoint.

2. Amendment of Section 37.—

In Section 37 of the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1974 (Tamil Nadu Act 21 of 1994) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), in sub-section (3), for Clause (a), the following Clause shall be substituted, namely:—

“(a) of unsound mind;”.

3. Amendment of Section 38.—In Section 38 of the principal Act, in sub-section (3), for Clause (a), the following Clause shall be substituted, namely:—

“(a) becomes of unsound mind;”.
