An Act further to amend the Cochin University Act, 1971
Preamble. —WHEREAS it is expedient further to amend the Cochin University Act, 1971, for the purposes hereinafter appearing;
BE it enacted in the Twenty-sixth Year of the Republic of India as follows. —
1.Short title. —This Act may be called the Cochin University (Amendment) Act, 1975.
2.Amendment of section 10. —In section 10 of the Cochin University Act, 1971 (30 of 1971) (hereinafter referred to as theprincipal Act), after sub-section (15), the following sub- section shall be inserted, namely: —
"(15A) In the event of a permanent vacancy occurring in the office of the Vice-Chancellor, the Chancellor shall make necessary arrangements for exercising the powers and performing the duties of the Vice-Chancellor pending appointment of a person as Vice-Chancellor."
3..Amendment of section 56. —In section 56 of principal Act, in the proviso to sub- section (2), for the words "one year", the words "one year and six months" shall be substituted.
4. Repeal and saving. —(1) The Cochin University (Third Amendment) Ordinance 1974 (18 of 1974), is hereby repealed.
(2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under the principal Act as amended by the said Ordinance shall be deemed to have been done or taken under the principal Act as amended by this Act as if this Act had come into force on the 16th day of December, 1974.
