UNITED NATIONS (SECURITY COUNCIL) ACT, 1948

An Act to enable effect to be given to certain provisions of the Charter of the United Nations, in State of Mysore except Bellary District. Whereas, it is expedient to enable effect to be given to certain provisions of the Charter of the United Nations, in State of Mysore except Bellary District Now therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 30 of the Government of Mysore Act, 1940 (XVIII of 1940). It is hereby enacted as follows.-
Section 1 Short title
This Act may be called the United Nations (Security Council) Act, 1948.
Section 2 Measures under Article 41 of the Charter of the United Nations
If, under Article 41 of the Charter of the United Nations signed at San Francisco on the 26th day of June, 1945 the Security Council of the United Nations calls upon the Government of India to apply any measures, not involving the use of armed force, to give effect to any decision of that Council, the Government may, by order published in the Official Gazette, make such provisions (including provisions having extraterritorial operation) as appear to it necessary or expedient for enabling those measures to be effectively applied, and without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing power, provision may be made for the punishment of persons offending against the order. |
