KAVERI ELECTRIC POWER LINE (PROTECTION) ACT, 1902

An Act for the prevention of wrongful damage to the Kaveri Electric Power Trasumission Line. Whether it is expedient to provide for the prevention of wrongful damage to the Kaveri Electric Power Transmission Line; Her Highness the Maharani Regent is pleased to enact as follows.-
Section 1 Extent and commencement
This Act shall apply to the 22. See the Mysore Adaptation of Laws Order, 1953 [whole of the State of Mysore except Bellary District] and it shall come into force at once.
Section 2 Pow to employ additional police in places where mischief is repeatedly cummitted to the transmission line
(1) Whenever it appears to the 33. Substituted for the word "Government" by Act No. 1 of 1956 [State Government] that any act, causing or likely to cause wrongful damage to, or in any way interfere with, any part of the line for the transmission, conveyance or distribution of electric power from the Kaveri Power Works at Sivasamudram, or any apparatus or appliances, or part or parts thereof, connected therewith, is repeatedly and maliciously or wan-fonly committed in any place, and that the employment of an additional police force in that place is thereby rendered necessary, the 44. Substituted for the word "Government" by Act No. 1 of 1956 [State Government] may send such additional police force as it thinks fit to the place, and employ the same therein so long as, in the opinion of 55. Substituted for the word "Government" by Act No. 1 of 1956 [State Government], the necessity of doing so continues.
(2) Cost of such additional police force.-The inhabitants of the place shall be charged with the cost of such additional police force, and the District Magistrate shall, subject to the orders of 66. Substituted for the word "Government" by Act No. 1 of 1956 [State Government], assess the proportion in which the cost shall be paid by the inhabitants according to his judgment of their respective means.
(3) Mode of collecting moneys.-All moneys payable under sub-section (2) shall be recoverable under the warrant of a Magistrate by distress and sale of the moveable property of the defaulter, within the local limits of his jurisdiction.
(4) 11. Substituted for the word "Government" by Act No. 1 of 1956 [State Government] may define limits of place for purposes of this section.-The 22. Substituted for the word "Government" by Act No. 1 of 1956 [State Government] may, by order in writing define the limits of any place for the purposes of this section. |
