THE INDUSTRIAL DISPUTES (WEST BENGAL AMENDMENT) ACT, 1983 West Bengal Act 34 of 1983 [23rd November, 1983.] Assent of the President first published in the Calcutta Gazette, Extraordinary, dated the 23rd November, 1983. An Act to amend the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, in its application to West Bengal. Whereas it is expedient to amend the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, in its application to West Bengal, for the purposes and in the manner hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted as follows :- 1. Short title and commencement. - (1) This Act may be called the Industrial Disputes (West Bengal Amendment) Act, 1983. (2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 30th day of November, 1981. 2. Application of the Act. - The Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act) shall, in its application to West Bengal, be amended for the purposes and in the manner hereinafter provided. 3. Amendment of section 15 of Act 14 of 1947. - In section 15 of the principal Act, in sub-section (2) as inserted by section 7 of the Industrial Disputes (West Bengal Second Amendment) Act, 1980, in clause (a), for the word, figures and letter "section 17B", the word, figures and letter "section 17AA" shall be substituted. 4. Renumbering of section 17B. - Section 17B of the principal Act as inserted by section 8 of the Industrial Disputes (West Bengal Second Amendment) Act, 1980, shall be renumbered as section 17AA. 5. Amendment of section 19. - In section 19 of the principal Act, in sub-section (3), for the words, figures and letter "or section 17B" as inserted by section 9 of the Industrial Disputes (West Bengal Second Amendment) Act, 1980, the words, figures and letter "or section 17AA" shall be substituted. |
