THE DARJEELING AND KURSEONG MUNICIPAL (PORTERS) (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1954 West Bengal Act 26 of 1954 [27th September, 1954.] An Act to amend the Darjeeling and Kurseong Municipal (Porters) Act, 1883. Whereas it is expedient to amend the Darjeeling and Kurseong Municipal (Porters) Act, 1883, for the purpose and in the manner hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted as follows:- 1. Short title. - This Act may be called the Darjeeling and Kurseong Municipal (Porters) (Amendment) Act, 1954. 2. Substitution of "mazdoors" for "coolies" in Bengal Act 5 of 1883. - [Incorporated in the principal Act.] 3. References to coolie to be construed as references to mazdoors. - References to the expression "coolie" and the expression "coolies" in any register kept, license granted or badge delivered under the said Act, shall be construed as references to the expression "mazdoor" and the expression "mazdoors" respectively. |
