THE UNIVERSITY OF RAJASTHAN (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1974

Notification No. F. 2(26) Vidhi/74, dated 18-9-1974, Published in Rajasthan Gazette, Extraordinary, Part IV-A, dated 18-9-1974, page 75. - The following Act of the Rajasthan State Legislature received the assent of the Governor on the 11th day of September, 1974 and is published for general information:
An Act further to amend the University of Rajasthan Act, 1946. Be it enacted by the Rajasthan State legislative in the Twenty-fifth Year of the Republic of India as follows:-
1. Short title. - This Act may be called the University of Rajasthan (Amendment) Act, 1974.
2. Amendment of section 18. - In sub-section (1) of section 18 of the University of Rajasthan Act, 1946 hereinafter referred to as the principal Act,-
(i) in sub division I, after the existing clause (xiii) the following new clause shall be inserted, namely:-
"(xiii-A) The President of the Central Union (Students) of the University,"; and
(ii) in sub-division III, sub-clause (b) of clause (xxv) shall be omitted.
3. Amendment of section 21. - In section 21 of the principal Act,-
(i) in sub-section (1) after clause (x), the following new clause shall be inserted, namely:-
"(xi) one person elected by the Senate from amongst the students of the University teaching departments and constituent colleges who are elected as 'other members' of the Senate under clause (xxviii) of sub-division III of sub-section (1) of section 18 and the ex-officio member of the Senate under clause (xiii-A) of sub-division I of sub-section (1) of the said section;
(xii) one person elected by the Senate from amongst the students of the affiliated colleges who are elected as 'other members' of the Senate under clause (xxviii) of sub-division III of sub- section (1) of section 18.";
(ii) after sub-section (2), the following new sub-section shall be inserted, namely:-
"(3) Persons who are members under clauses (xi) and (xii) of subsection (1) above, shall not be associated with the appointment of examiners or with the committees of selection for university employees, the finance committee or with such other committee as the State Government may, by notification in the official Gazette, specify."
4. Amendment of section 22. - In the principal Act, in section 22, after the existing clause (f), the following new clause shall be inserted, namely:
"(ff) On the security of the property of the University or on any other security and subject to the prior concurrence of the State Government to borrow money or so raise public loans for the purposes of the University;".
5. Repeal & Savings. - (1) [The University of Rajasthan (Amendment) Ordinance, 1974] and [the University of Rajasthan (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 1974] made and promulgated by the Governor on 20th day of April, 1974 and 25th day of July, 1974 respectively are hereby repealed.
(2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or action taken under the principal Act as amended by the said Ordinances so repealed shall be deemed to have been done or taken under the corresponding provisions of the principal Act as amended by this Act.
