An Act to amend the Legal Practitioners Act, 1879, in its application to the Province of Bombay.
Whereas it is expedient to amend the Legal Practitioners Act, 1879, in its application to the Province of Bombay, for the purpose hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted as follows
1. Short title and commencement. - (1) This Act may be called the Legal Practitioners (Bombay Amendment) Act, 1948.
(2) It shall come into force on such date as the [State] Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
2. Amendment of section 36 of Act XVIII of 1879. - In the Legal Practitioners Act, 1879, in section 36, in sub-section (1) for the words "District Judge", the words "and District Judge, the Judge of the Bombay City Civil Court or, if the said Court consists of more than one Judge, the Principal Judge thereof, every" shall be substituted.
