An Act to amend the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, in its application to the State of Bombay.



Whereas it is expedient to amend the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, in its application to the State of Bombay, for the purpose hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted as follows :-



1. Short title. - This Act may be called the Epidemic Diseases (Bombay Amendment) Act, 1953.



2. Insertion of new section 2B in Act III of 1897. - After section 2A of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, the following new section shall be inserted, namely :-



"2B. Delegation of powers. - The State Government may by notification in the Official Gazette, direct that the powers exercisable by it under section 2, shall, subject to such conditions, if any, as may be specified in the notification, be exercisable also by the Collectors within their respective jurisdiction."



Notifications



G. N., L. S. G. & P. H. D., No. 6299/33, dated 28th May, 1953 (B. G., Part IV-A, page 412) - In exercise of the powers conferred by section 2B of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 (III of 1897), in its application to the State of Bombay the Government of Bombay is pleased to direct that the powers exercisable by it under section 2 of the said Act shall be exercisable also by the Collectors within their respective jurisdiction.



G. N., P. H. D., No. EDA. 1084/3054/CR-220/PH-16A, dated 19th November, 1984 (M. G., Part IV-A, page 1441) - In exercise of the powers conferred by section 2B of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 (III of 1897), in its application to the State of Maharashtra, the Government of Maharashtra is pleased to direct that the powers exercisable by it under section 2 of the said Act, shall be exercisable also by the Collectors within their respective jurisdiction.
