OPIUM AND DANGEROUS DRUGS (TAMIL NADU AMENDMENT) ACT, 1947

Received the assent of the Governor - General on the 23rd January 1948 and first published in the Fort St. George Gazette, dated the 3rd February 1948.
An Act further to amend the Opium Act, 1878 and the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1930, in their application to the [State of Tamil Nadu].
Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Opium Act, 1878 (Central Act I of 1878) and the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1930 (Central Act II of 1930), in their application to the [State of Tamil Nadu], for the purpose hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted as follows: -
1. Short title and extent. - (1) This Act may be called the Opium and Dangerous Drugs ([Tamil Nadu] Amendment) Act, 1947.
(2) It extends to the whole of the [State of Tamil Nadu].

2. Amendment of section 14, Central Act I of 1878 and section 23, Central Act II of 1930. - In section 14 of the Opium Act, 1878 (Central Act I of 1878), and section 23, sub-section (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1930 (Central Act II of 1930) (which give certain powers of entry, search, seizure, etc., to officers of some departments), after the word "Excise", the word "Prohibition", and after the word "peon", the word "guard", shall be inserted.
