THE KARNATAKA FOREST (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2009

An Act further to amend the Karnataka Forest Act, 1963.
Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Karnataka Forest Act, 1963 (Karnataka Act 5 of 1964), for the purposes hereinafter appearing;
Be it enacted by the Karnataka State Legislature in the Sixtieth year of the Republic of India as follows:-
1. Short title and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Karnataka Forest (Amendment) Act, 2009.
(2) It shall come into force at once.
2. Amendment of section 98A.- In section 98A of the Karnataka Forest Act, 1963 (Karnataka Act 5 of 1964) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), after sub-section (3), the following shall be inserted, namely:-
"(4) There shall be levied and collected interest at the rate of eighteen percent per annum till the date of payment or recovery of all tax dues.”
3. Amendment of section 98B.- In Section 98B of the principal Act, in sub-section (2), in clause (a), after the word "tax", the words "and interest" shall be inserted.
