THE KARNATAKA HOME GUARDS (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2011
KARNATAKA ACT NO 20 OF 2011

(Received the assent of the Governor on the Second day of April, 2011) An Act further to amend the Karnataka Home Guards Act, 1962.
Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Karnataka Home Guards Act, 1962 (Karnataka Act 35 of 1962) for the purpose, hereinafter appearing;
Be it enacted by the Karnataka State Legislature in the Sixty second year of the Republic of India as follows:-
1. Short title and commencement,- (1) This Act may be called the Karnataka Home Guards (Amendment) Act, 2011.
(2) It shall come into force at once.
2. Amendment of Section 3,- In the Karnataka Home Guards Act, 1962 (Karnataka Act 35 of 1962) in section 3, for sub- section (2c), the following shall be substituted, namely:-
“(2c) subject to the pleasure of the State Government the term of office of the commandant shall ordinarily be for five years and it may be extended for a further period of two terms of five years each.
Provided that no person shall be eligible for appointment as commandant or shall hold such office on his attaining the age of sixty years.”
