THE KARNATAKA SLUM AREAS (IMPROVEMENT AND CLEARANCE) (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2013

An Act further to amend the Karnataka Slum Areas (Improvement and Clearance) Act, 1973. Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Karnataka Slum Areas(Improvement and
Clearance) Act, 1973 (Karnataka Act 33 of 1974) for the purposes hereinafter appearing;
Be it enacted by the Karnataka State Legislature in the sixty fourth year of the Republic of India, as follows:-
1. Short title and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Karnataka Slum Areas(Improvement and Clearance) (Amendment) Act, 2013.
(2) It shall come into force at once.
2. Amendment of Title.-In the Karnataka Slum Areas(Improvement and Clearance) Act, 1973 (Karnataka Act 33 of 1974) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), in the title and in the long title for the words "Improvement and clearance" the words " development " shall respectively be substituted.
3. Amendment of section 1.- In sub-section(1) of section 1 of the principal Act, for the words " Improvement and clearance" the words "development" shall be substituted.
4. Amendment of section 2.- In the principal Act, in section 2, in clause(a), for the words " Karnataka Slum Clearance Board" the words "Karnataka Slum Development Board" shall be substituted.
5. Amendment of section 33.- In section 33 of the Principal Act,-
(a) in the heading, for the words "Karnataka Slum Clearance Board", the words "Karnataka Slum Development Board" shall be substituted.
(b) in sub-section(1), for the words, "Karnataka Slum Clearance Board", the words "Karnataka Slum Development Board" shall be substituted.
